Kitchen Remodel - Grey is the New White

After

This kitchen was dated with 1980’s finishes, not living up to the glory of the rest of the house. The layout wasn’t functional and felt quite cramped. The new design enhanced the windows, added light and pure simplicity to the space. The new palette kept it clean and symmetrical with quiet colors. Through optimal cabinet space planning and opening up a doorway, a path to the family room was created, connecting both spaces. The homeowner wanted a symmetrical, long, classic island with seating on both sides. This wish was executed by tucking two extra stools under the island on the sink side. The bar is the focal point of the kitchen with a beautiful arched valance and antique mirrors over the sink. The dramatic color resides in the gold and brassy tones alongside the subtle grays and whites. The homeowner’s antique rugs were the perfectly pink toned accent, giving the space an added touch of age, charm and color.

This design element was in my head for months and with much help I was able to get the vision out of my head and into my reality.

Now try and say something nice about the wallpaper……

Seriously though, as I have said many times before; since I was a teenager I have always had a love affair with design, décor and fashion. So, my passion with design began many-many years ago.

In my book, Journey to the Throne I wrote: “We should follow our passion because it’s our passions that are our sign post to fulfill our destiny!” Meaning, that when we don’t follow our passions we are refusing to fulfill our spirit or refusing to do what we were meant to do. In other words, refusing to do what fills our heart.

But you don’t always have to have every single aspect of what it is you are seeking to achieve together in your mind. Just start with a vision. Then seek inspiration, take action and just stay focused! If you stay focused, determined and committed you will be amazed that the result is far more beautiful than you could ever imagine.

So, don’t ignore present opportunities for growth because something seems too big. Start small. So, don't be afraid to take on the challenge of learning something new, expanding your goals, and even making mistakes ......because you can achieve anything if you are determined.

Surrounding yourself with people who add value to furthering your vision is critical because simple systemized ideas mixed with passion, can manifest into something extraordinary.
